Item 17: Cool Stuff

KEWL!!! this is really awsome! i really liked the animated drawing board! even though its really hard to draw with the mouse! haha, well then there was the typing game and that was really stressful, yet fun at the same time! yahoo answers is really handy. i have an account and i have asked questions as well as answered a few of them as well. it can be a real life saving tool, if youre trying to remember something, like a name of a song, and you know that there are millions of others that are willing to give you the answer!

Item 13: Tagging & Folksonomies - del.icio.us

Del.icio.us could be a great tool to use, but i assume that behind a great tool, there also has to be some kind of organization. i looked at one of the del.icio.us bookmark and under the tags there were like hundreds of topics! when one is in a hurry all those tags could be overwhelming. it could have a great potential, but there would have to be permanent topics so it could have some sort of organization. the fact that they can be accessed from anywhere is a huge plus. its a pain when im in another computer and my most precious "just-click-n-go" bookmarks are not there.

Item 12: Play! Image Generators/Catchup/Review

Ok i have to admit, i had fun with this one since the beginning.... you can tell by these pictures!!! i made the highway sign in addletters.com haha. or like the one with my husky that i made in reflectionmaker.com it was really fun playing around with them. this should be a good tool for graphic assignments, or fun posters!

Item 11: Social Networks - MySpace/Facebook

here's my myspace URL:
myspace.com/myrsantana
Its not all "crazy" but it has some info!

Item 10: Social Networks - General Introduction

Myspace and facebook might be really popular in the teen years on a persons life. for a library to have its own page in myspace or facebook might be a plus in someways. for example, a few teens might frequently check the stuff that the Yaab page has, but other teens that are not interested at all in the library's programs might not have any benefit on it, since they wont check it regularly. but i think that it doesnt hurt to try, and it will sure benefit the few people that deserve it.

Item 9: Instant Messaging - Meebo

Nice! I've always liked talking to people live. I am somewhat familiar with instant messaging since I am constantly on Yahoo!Messenger. Here would be my opinion on the following questions:

What if my library had a MeeboMe widget on their library home page for asking reference questions?
I think that would be a great idea to have in the library's website. with the growing number of students and curious people doing research through the internet, it would encourage people asking more questions since they will know that they are talking to someone that will respond to them right that instant.
What would be the pros and cons?
Pros: easily accessible to patrons that need our help, fast communication.
Cons: might get technical difficulties, overloads, not enough staff available.

What other ways could IM be used in the library?
it could be also be used for communication within library staff, or youth programs.

Item 8: RSS & Newsreaders - Find Some Feeds

Geesh, this one was kind of tricky for me. First of all I didn't like the format of some of the blogging websites, meaning: they were too complicated for me. I did like Technorati which has a simple way of searching for information. The google page was hard, especially if you dont know what you are looking for.
